ICU delirium or more properly "ICUd"; a form of delirium which often occurs in critically ill patients in critical care units in the hospital. Previously brushed off as a harmless artifact of critical illness, it is rapidly becoming clear that ICU delirium is associated with higher mortality rates both in the hospital and after discharge as well as a PTSD-like condition which can have devastating consequences for people even after the other sequelae of critical illness has itself been largely overcome.
