What does kiritsu mean?
- Kiritsu is typically used in the Japanese classroom to begin the formal greeting of the class to the instructor. It is used at the beginning of class, usually spoken by the class representative/class president. It means stand. It is then followed by Ki o tsuke, which signifies to the class to be in proper form to begin the greeting, or perhaps more accurately, the direct meaning would be attention.. Next comes Rei, which means bow. followed by Chakuseki, which means sit down.
