Asbestiform mineral - Cummingtonite-Grunnerite Solid Solution Series
This was a type of asbestos mined by the Asbestos Mines Of South Africa. Apparently the AMOSA printed on the bags of asbestos being exported developed the nickname Amosite. Some sites say it is a Trademarked name, but I don't believe it, it was simply that this form of exported asbestos came in large bags which bore the markings AMASA. It is considered one of the more carcinogenic types of asbestiform minerals, possibly due to its chromium and nickel content which may act as catalysts causing localized DNA damage to tissues which can lead to cancer. During its production young boys were hired to jump into the bags when they were partially filled to physically compact the materials.
