WGBW-FM was a non commercial FM radio station licensed to the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay. In 1977 I was the station manager and we were operated by the students at the University. The university had a second radio station which was NPR based. The station wasn't strong enough to stand the test of time. Students on the station swearing on the air was enough for the Regents to pull the plug. GBW stood for Green Bay Wisconsin. One of the students from the station was found with spray paint on the Green Bay and Western railroad yard painting "W"'s on the railroad cars in front of the "GBW"'s on the cars. He was not prosecuted. It was a wonderful place, I enjoyed my short time there and have many fond memories.
