- Boudier is a French occupational surname with Germanic roots meaning "Army Messenger." Submitted by William Boudier,Roseville,California (bn 1941) family historian for the descendants of Estienne Boudier & his wife, Ann Payn, married 1721 in Normandy,France and immigrated to the Island of Jersey as religious refugees, taking the Oath of Allegiance to the British Crown 4 October 1721. references: Dictionnaire Etymologique des Noms de Famille et Prenoms de France, Paris 1951, Societe Jersiaise Annual Bulletin and Genealogy of Estienne Boudier & Ann Payn Family. George Boudier (1820–1899), English cricketer and Anglican priest, served as a military chaplain in the Crimean War. He is a descendant of Estienne & Ann Boudier. Jean Louis Émile Boudier (1828–1920), French pharmacist and mycologist Paul Joseph Boudier (1854-1908), French civil servant.
