What does DPO mean in International?

The acronym DPO is commonly used around the world by many advocacy and human/social development organizations run by people with disabilities. I have seen it used both at the international level by international organizations and also at the local level by people representing hundreds of different DPOs in dozens of different countries. DPOs in plural form refers to multiple disabled people's organizations, but DPO in singular form can be used to refer to a single disabled person's organization. (Note that organizations run by non-disabled people on behalf of, or for, people with disabilities are not typically considered to be DPO's, This acronym is usually reserved for organizations in which primary leadership positions, including a majority of the board, are held by people who themselves personally have one or more disabilities.)
