What does VIVRE mean?
- Vivre
- "Vivre" was the French entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1983, performed in French by Guy Bonnet. This was Bonnet's second appearance on the Eurovision stage, in 1970 he had represented France singing "Marie-Blanche" and he was also one of the lyricists of Isabelle Aubret's 1968 entry "La source" "Vivre" was performed first. At the close of voting, it had received 56 points, placing 8th in a field of 20. The song deals with the parting of two lovers, with one apparently slated to be executed by firing squad while the other continues to live. The song was historically the first ever French Eurovision entry to also be recorded in the minority Provençal language, then under the title "Vièure"; Bonnet was born in Avignon in the Vaucluse department in southeastern France. It was succeeded as French representative at the 1984 Contest by Annick Thoumazeau with "Autant d'amoureux que d'étoiles".
