The VĂ©ges family originates from the Sibiu area of Transylvania, Romania. Some family members relocated to Cluj-Napoca, also in Transylvania, where they remained for two generations, until the last members of the family emigrated to Germany and the United States. The spelling of the last name above is in the Hungarian language. Given its origins in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the name has gone through some transformations, mainly through Magyarization.
