What does ABG - mean in Laboratory?

This acronym would be found on a lab request or report. In general the most important information from an ABG is oxygen saturation. 02 SATS below 95% are cause for attentiveness. O2 SATS below 90 become fairly alarming and may require oxygen supplementation through nasal inserts or a mask. Asthma often causes low O2 saturation, shown by symptoms and in ABG's. I don't know if ABG followed by a dash – is a different "animal."
