Owned by ByteDance, the media app was launched as Duoyin in China in September 2016 and introduced to the overseas market as TikTok one year later. It is a leading short video platform in Asia, United States and has extended to other parts of the world. In 2018, the application gained popularity and became the most downloaded app in the U.S. in October 2018.As of 2018, it's available in over 150 markets, and in 75 languages. The application allows users to create short videos of 15 seconds, as of July 2018, the app has achieved more than 500 million global users across 150 countries.
